Site Location
The Liverpool Waters project occupies some 60 hectares of land to the north of Liverpool’s Pier Head, and extends from Princes Dock to the south and to Bramley Moore dock to the north. The site extends 2km along the waterfront and also includes the King Edward Industrial Estate. It extends eastwards as far as the dock boundary wall that runs along Bath Street and Waterloo Road. The eastern boundary of the site is defined by the north-south axis of the A5036 carriageway, and the River Mersey defines the site’s western boundary. A small portion of the A5046 (at St Nicholas Place) abuts the site to its south, whilst the dock system continues to the site’s north towards the boundary with Sefton Metropolitan Borough Council. The entire Liverpool Waters site falls within the planning jurisdiction of Liverpool City Council.
Car
Liverpool City Centre and the surrounding region are well served by the strategic highway network providing access to the north, south and east.
Motorway access from west of the river is provided via the Kingsway Road Tunnel.
The Liverpool Waters site runs alongside the A565.
Train
Liverpool has good local and national rail services. James Street, Moorfields and Sandhills Stations are all located near to the development site.
The Liverpool Waters scheme will present an opportunity to improve the pedestrian and cycle routes between the Liverpool Waters site and the nearby railway stations.

Boat
Ferry services are available from Liverpool to the Isle of Man and Ireland on a daily basis. More locally, regular ferries travel between the Pier Head, Seacombe and Woodside on the Wirral. The latter service is frequent enough to provide a convenient commuter link between the Wirral and Liverpool.
The city has a cruise liner berthing facility, although this is limited to visiting vessels with cruise liners currently unable to start and end cruises in Liverpool City Centre.
Plane
Liverpool John Lennon Airport is the closest airport, approximately 14 kilometres to the south of Liverpool Waters.

Bus
Alternative forms of public transport to the car are also important to consider in redevelopment proposals.
The Liverpool Waters site is connected to the north and north east of the city centre by existing bus services. A smaller number of services operate to the south east, with the main destination being Liverpool John Lennon Airport.
The Liverpool One Bus Station is located five minutes walk away from the Liverpool Waters site.
